Appearances can be deceptive.
Maybe you’ve been putting on a brave face for a long time. Inside, you might feel stuck, exhausted, or disconnected from those around you.
Perhaps you’re carrying experiences that still echo in the present, or you’ve lost touch with the part of you that feels steady and at peace. Your mind may feel busy and tired, looping over the same thoughts again and again.
You want to understand what’s happening beneath the surface — to feel lighter, calmer, and more connected. Counselling offers space to slow down, breathe, and gently reconnect with yourself, so you can move forward feeling more grounded and at ease.
My approach
I offer a compassionate space where your story and pace guide the work.
Being trauma-informed means I’m mindful of how the nervous system responds to stress, and I place safety and trust at the centre of the process.
Therapy can offer a way to make sense of tangled thoughts and emotions so life starts to feel lighter and more manageable.
As a person-centred, integrative therapist, I draw on approaches such as Human Givens, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Transactional Analysis, and Gestalt. When working with trauma, I may also bring in somatic awareness, breathwork, or creative methods to suit your individual needs.
Therapy isn’t about revisiting pain before you’re ready — it’s about helping you feel more resourced, grounded, and in control of your experience.
How I can support you
I work with people navigating life changes, relationship challenges, and the impact of past trauma. Together, we can explore what’s been holding you back and help you find clarity, confidence, and balance in your inner world.
Common areas of focus include:
Anxiety, stress, and overthinking
Low mood or feeling stuck
Self-esteem and confidence
Relationships and boundaries
Grief and loss
Trauma and recovery
Life transitions
Expat life and belonging
Neurodiversity and overwhelm
Work stress and purpose
Identity

About me
I’m Alison Zorraquin, a qualified counsellor (MBACP). I offer a calm, supportive space where you can talk openly, make sense of what’s been happening, and begin to feel more grounded.
The name Curious Minds Counselling reflects how I approach therapy — with warmth, openness, and a genuine interest in understanding what life feels like for you. I believe that curiosity, rather than judgment, helps us get to know ourselves better and find new ways forward.
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in media and television in London. Although it was exciting, something was missing. I spent time feeling lost until I realised how important it was for me to do work that truly aligned with my values — something that felt deeply meaningful. This led me to work in the charity sector and with NGOs in South America, and later in education.
I went on to spend over a decade living in South America, where my own experience of therapy inspired me to retrain as a counsellor. That time abroad gave me a deep appreciation for belonging, identity, and the beauty and challenges that come with living in a different culture, far from home. I also offer sessions in Spanish.
Now based in the UK, I work with people living with the ongoing effects of trauma, anxiety, loss, or uncertainty. I also support clients navigating career changes and help young adults find their direction.
